In Black Box, check “Extra”, before pressing “Combine”. You will then invest some crystals, which will increase the chance of better equipment. You will see the number of crystals needed, which will also increase the more advanced devices you want to use in Black Box.
There is debate on whether to use crystals or not. We suggest there are situations where it is worth the crystals, read more in Using the Black Box.
