Assessment
In many people’s opinion Phoenix is a rather unlikable plane, with one distinct super nice ability: It survives one lethal attack. This is especially good in some of the Patrol missions, where it is next to impossible (to most of us commoners) not to die at least once. To even further your chances in Patrol, you should pair Phoenix with brobots that have a similar attribute, like Kraken or Scarab.

It seems like Phoenix also has a lot of fans (though we do not understand why): Playing coop on higher levels, you will meet a Phoenix surprisingly often. Possibly these pilots have realized qualities with Phoenix, which we haven’t understood. It might also be possible that some people think that the overdrive is more powerful, than it actually is. It sure looks like it  is very powerful, with the four beams, and it clears away lighter foes with ease. But against a boss, it hardly nibbles.

Also to note, is that the overdrive makes it difficult to see what is happening on the screen. It is a challenge in itself to play coop with a Phoenix sporting Musketeer…

Advice: Should definitely be bought, but save the credits to update other planes.

  1. I have learned that Phoenix’s overdrive is very powerful if you hover directly over what your trying to damage, when doing this it damages the opponent with all 4 lasers at once quickly damaging the enemy.

  2. I’m a fan of it because it is very useful to have the revive once ability to survive a oneshot once a mission. Who haven’t died by having an ass hair burnt by a missile ?
At least it saves a lot of frustration.
As long as you don’t have Gambit, it is a really good alternative.

  3. Katyusha (V) has the same % at higest levels, or at least, its your opinion (in your own website)

  4. Regarding the Phoenix:
You don’t understand why?!? I don’t understand why you don’t understand why?!?!? When I realized what the Phoenix was capable of, I disregarded other planes I was investing in at the time. I’ll be glad to elaborate on why I think Phoenix is hands down one of, if not the best plane on the game….since you can’t seem to understand why.

  5. Put it a bit nicer than Crash and Burn: I love Phoenix overdrive for the 6 seconds long invulnerability: clears crowd for very long, and against bosses helps significantly to pass through difficult forms. Coupled with long invisibility brobots specials like kraken and reload brobot you can spend most of the annoying parts invincible.

I also love the extra life… so much that I play also 2 shields giving another life each… and possibly brobots giving some more!

The main gun is not so strong but has a constant power… unlike laserbite for example that alternate strong/weak at least at my level S.

Finally… to answer your comment about it showing up often in Team at high level, playing team with many lives and invincibility… you can rely on the other player doing the job and you survive to share the prize.

    1. I tested this on level 78 team, over 90 seconds I spent about half invisible or well protected… I used 3 overdrives, 2 or 3 kraken, 2 menace (partial screen clear including bullets and speedbot, don’t have nayad yet)
